A significant incident occurred on Monday, June 26th, at approximately 2:20pm. The Menominee Police Department’s diligent efforts to apprehend an individual wanted for firearms violations led to officers to locate a 25-year-old individual at Hay Creek Townhomes. Upon contact, the subject rapidly fled back into the townhome, where he barricaded himself with an 11-month-old child. Recognizing the need for immediate action, Menominee Police Officers promptly established a secure perimeter around the area, ensuring the safety and containment of the scene. To augment their capabilities and heighten operational efficiency, the Marinette County Response Team was requested, along with the deployment of the BEARCAT armored vehicle. Following subsequent dialogue with the subject, law enforcement successfully apprehended him. Because of his actions, they have charged the individual with several offenses, including Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Resisting Arrest, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and Bond Violation. He has been remanded to the custody of the Menominee County Jail.
The operation necessitated the collaborative efforts of multiple agencies. The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office, Menominee County Sheriff’s Office, Menominee County Negotiation Team, Michigan State Police, Aurora Medical Center Bay Area Paramedics, and Menominee County 911.
