Recently, the Marinette County District Attorney’s office received a grant from the M and M Community Foundation for a little over $3,900 to use towards drug testing supplies as part of the County’s Drug Diversion Program. Marinette County Diversion Coordinator, Stephanie Timblin says, “it is a program based on individuals who are low risk but high need. Maybe it’s their first-time felony offense.”
Timblin says, “ultimately it’s to make them more stable, sober, healthy members of the community that can then model for their own children and the generations after them.”
Participants are in the program for two to three years, and have support from many community partners including law enforcement, probation and parole, private treatment providers, local employers, and community organizations. This voluntary program is the first of its kind in the community which address issues participants face as they work toward improving their status in the court system.
