A non-profit organization known as Bridges to Recovery is helping others who are struggling with hardships or substance abuse and an extension of the Life Point Program at Marinette County Public Health is rolling out a new type of machinery to help our communities. While most vending machines are normally stocked with snacks and sweets, this machine will be fully equipped with harm reduction supplies. Community Health Educator for Marinette County Public Health Rachel Meier says, “the purpose of this machine is to get out harm reduction supplies which focus on life-safety, security, and prevention.”
Public Health Officer Molly BonJean says, “the first someone access the vending machine they do need to call Marinette County Public Health during business hours.”
The Harm Reduction Vending Machine is located in the vestibule at Bridges to Recovery, with access available 24/7. In order to make the vending machine possible, Marinette County Public Health received two grants from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. They also collaborate locally with Newcapp, as well as with Vivant Health in Green Bay. The number to call to get your access code is 715-732-7670. If you are in need of other services such as housing or transportation assistance, Marinette County Public Health can assist you by calling 715-732-7670.
