The Menominee School Board has approved the hiring of an interim superintendent. Craig Allen was superintendent at Kingsford for 16 years, retiring in 2021. Allen will take over from Richard Sarau, who submitted his resignation last week. Allen will officially start on Wednesday. He has agreed to a three-month contract which will then become month to month. Board president Derek Butler says the district was very fortunate to find such a qualified candidate in a short time.
The board will discuss how they want to proceed in the search for a new permanent superintendent when they meet as a committee of the whole September 6th.
The Menominee School Board also approved the hiring of 5 staff members as the opening of school is just days away. But the Menominee Schools, like most other districts, still have openings to fill, including substitute teachers and school bus drivers and maintenance people.
