A Menominee Man is Sentenced to 6 to 20 years for Possession and Delivery of Methamphetamine

57-year-old Jeffrey Wayne Tomes of Menominee was sentenced to 6 years to 20 years in prison for Possession With Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine. The prison sentenced was handed down on Friday, September 7th, by the Honorable Mary B. Barglind, in the 41st Circuit Court. Tomes plead guilty to felony drug charge on April 13th. According to documents and information presented in open court, the incident occurred on November 2nd, 2022, when Detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET) executed a search warrant a t 2411 10th Avenue in Menominee. 462.74 grams of methamphetamine, over a pound, was seized in the investigation. Law enforcement personnel estimated the street value of the methamphetamine at $45,000. The investigation revealed that Tomes had received seven prior such deliveries of methamphetamine from California since 2019. Menominee Prosecuting Attorney Jeffrey Rogg commended the proactive efforts of his UPSET partners by saying, “this is the largest quantity of methamphetamine seized in Menominee County since I have been in office. Because of this interdiction effort, a very large quantity of methamphetamine did not wind up on the streets of Menominee and put our citizens at risk.
