A Wilson Woman is sentenced to 20 months to 10 years in Prison for Possession of Methamphetamine

37-year-old Melissa Rose Metzger of Wilson was sentenced to 20 months to 10 years in prison for Possession of Methamphetamine. The prison sentence was handed down on September 8th by the Honorable Christopher S. Ninomiya in the 41st Circuit Court. According to court documents and information presented in open court, the incident occurred on July 22, 2022, when Detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET) using a Confidential Informant (CI), conducted a controlled purchased of one gram of crystal methamphetamine from Metzger, for $100. A chemical test was positive for that Schedule II controlled substance. “Ms. Metzger has six prior felony and 17 prior misdemeanor convictions, including like felony convictions in 2021 and 2023,” says prosecuting attorney Jeffrey Rogg. “She has been placed on community supervision numerous times previously, and has documented violations during those terms of probation. Her abject failure to conform her behavior to that required of any law-abiding citizen suggests to me that she is not ready to commit herself to living up to the expectations of the Court nor to the laws of our state. Ms. Metzger has been involved in multiple rehabilitative programs over the years, but has not been able to achieve sobriety, “Rogg continued. “I am extremely proud of the teamwork and partnership that is demonstrated between my Office and UPSET, who are making a real difference in the fight against drug use and trafficking in our community,” Rogg concluded.
