With the help of the Green Bay Packers, and the local community, new playground equipment was installed Tuesday at Menominee’s Blesch Intermediate School. The Packer’s Hometown Huddle program has been started in 2002, with projects that encourage youth to be active. Blesch Principal Scott Martin said he first contacted the Packers two years ago and told them about the challenges the district was facing at the time and this year the Packers chose to make the Blesch Playground their Hometown Huddle project. The Packers provided the playground equipment, and the school student council bought some swings as well. The Packers sent up a small crew of players and alumni to help with the installation. Kevin Barry, an offensive tackle in the early 2000’s has participated in many projects over the years…
The Blesch school currently serves grades 3-6 but Martin notes that will change next year.
There were 20 some local volunteers helping out on the project. Area Businesses came through, as well. Marinette Concrete donated the concrete for the project, and Beaver Creek Wood Products and AC Sawdust donated wood chips to cover the playground area. Contractor Jason Brodzinski provided the Ground Prep. Café Green, Dexters, and 35th and Coffee donated
