Menominee City Manager Brett Botbyl addressed City Council at last evenings meeting prior to the public hearing with information regarding the Commercial Rehabilitation Zone. Botbyl says, “Basically, what this supports people to do is, by rehabilitating commercial property we will abate their property taxes generated from the new investment for a period of up to ten years.”
Botbyl says, “what we do is cap their taxes at present day value and then we give them that tax incentive up to ten years.”
The only person to speak during the Public Hearing of the Commercial Rehabilitation Zone was District 1 Menominee County Board Supervisor Steve Gromala stating his only concern is that the DDA has it where they keep the historical district. When it came to a roll call vote it was a unanimous yes.
