An Amberg man died in a single vehicle crash in the Town of Athlestane Saturday morning. Marinette County Dispatch was alerted to the accident at 8:53am Saturday. The Sheriff’s Department reports a vehicle driven by 22 year old Robert G. Perry of Amberg was westbound on Perch Lake Road near Nelson Road when it failed to negotiate the corner, struck an embankment, and went airborne into some trees, landing on its side. Perry, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead by the Marinette County Medical Examiner’s Office. Excessive speed appears to have been a factor in the crash. The accident remains under investigation by the Marinette County Sheriff’s Department and the Marinette County Medical Examiner. It was the 5th traffic fatality in Marinette County this year.
