Biehls Bridges to Recovery recently was awarded a grant from the Wisconsin’s Voices for Recovery program, which is a part of the UW-Madison system, in the amount of $145,000. Meghan Rutherford Bridges to Recovery Project Director says, “the 80 to recovery plus program has been going on in our state for years. Just not in our area specifically. What it does is it allows us to enhance our current services, provide more peer recovery coaches, and peer support specialist within our community. For individuals with opioid use disorder or psychostimulant disorder.”
Rutherford says, “the other really great thing is that it helped us build a partnership with the Hospital.”
While the program is still in its infancy stage locally, the program is not within the state. According to Rutherford, the whole point of this funding is to decrease the number of fatal and non-fatal overdoses in Wisconsin, increase treatment and recovery support services, and to reduce emergency room admissions.
