It might’ve taken over three years of litigation, tens of thousands of dollars, and increasing insurance premiums, but litigation between the City of Marinette Alderperson Doug Oitzinger and the City of Marinette and the Marinette Common Council has ended. An Oconto County Judge made his ruling earlier this week. In official court documents, it states that the court dismisses the complaint regarding the October 6th, 2020, meeting, specifically, finding no violation of the Open Meetings Law; and regarding the October 7th,2020, meeting, specifically, finding they violated the Open Meetings Law. While the court is not unsympathetic to their problem. Other parties wanted them to provide water to the Town of Peshtigo. There were no negotiations or bargaining position to protect at the time of the October 7th, 2020, meeting. The judge did not award attorney fees or cost to either side, given the split decision. There was no further action taken at the October 7th, 2020, meeting for the judge to consider voiding.
