The Oconto County Veterans Memorial doesn’t belong to the people that are building it, it belongs to the people who donate. This memorial is their memorial. The people who will donate want to show their honor and respect for the Oconto County soldiers, whose names will be placed upon the memorial walls. Carl Plaster, Secretary and PR of the Oconto County Veterans Memorial, says, “the men and women that serve for our country, county, town, cities, and the people; they deserve this respect, they deserve this honor, because they sacrificed so much.”
Plaster says, “we have boxes around to restaurants and taverns. The donation boxes have flyers and brochures on the back of them as well.”
The organization also made a deal with the City of Oconto to include its World War I cannon in the monument. The cannon will make its way to the memorial as a part of the Oconto Copperfest Parade on June 10th.
