In the statewide primary race for Wisconsin state superintendent of schools, Democratic incumbent Jill Underly and GOP-backed education consultant Brittany Kinser advanced Tuesday and will face off in the general election April 1.
With 92% of precincts reporting Tuesday evening, Underly won 37% of the vote and Kinser claimed 35% of the votes, according to The Associated Press. Sauk Prairie School District Superintendent Jeff Wright trailed with 27% of the vote.
In Marinette County, Kinser was the top vote getter with 1263, followed by 758 for Underly, and 566 for Wright.
There was just one race needing a primary in Marinette County. That was for Supervisor 3 in the Town of Stephenson where Austin Van De Walle with 212 votes and Peter McCabe with 104 advanced to the April General Election, Dan Bernetzke received 55 votes and was eliminated.
Only 9.5 percent of Marinette County registered voters turned out for yesterday’s primary.
