Marinette City Hall could be moved from its longtime location on Hall Ave, after a potential move was discussed at this week’s discussion – only special city council meeting. Marinette Mayor Steve Genisot introduced the topic, highlighting several issues with their current building. Among them is the HVAC system.
Alderperson Mike Wolfe says, “I’m open to moving. I thought this location was ridiculous from the beginning.”
The entire council was in full agreement after their discussion that Marinette City Hall should move and that they would like a stand-alone building that is 8,000 to 10,000 sq.ft. which is enough to accommodate the roughly 17 employees. Next week’s council meeting is on Tuesday, March 4th at 5pm. The council will ask to borrow $3.5 million dollars for city hall, the police department, Cleveland Avenue, and Main Street Projects. As of right now, Alderperson made a motion and Council Chairperson Dorothy Kowlaski stating that the Mayor and City Engineer Brian Miller hire a firm to do initial soil boring for suitability for foundations.
