Marinette County Sheriff Randy Miller announced the death of a jail inmate. Correctional officers at the Marinette County Jail responded to a medical emergency in a cell pod around 7:40 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. Life-saving actions were immediately taken by correctional officers. Assistance was provided by Aurora Medical Center – Bay Area EMS and Marinette Emergency Rescue Squad. Resuscitation attempts on Kristi L. Meverden, a 34-year-old inmate from Pound, Wisconsin, proved unsuccessful.
The incident remains under investigation by the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office, Marinette County Medical Examiner’s Office, and the matter will be reviewed by the State of Wisconsin Department of Corrections Office of Detention Facilities.
