Judge Peggy Miller has announced her intention to seek re-election to the office of Circuit Court Judge for Branch I in Marinette County. Miller has steadily climbed the judicial ladder, starting as a legal secretary many years ago as well as five years working in Oconto County as a court commissioner and Register in Probate. Until Governor Tony Evers appointed Miller to the bench in August of 2024. Miller says, “A personal goal is that I want to be the best judge that I can be. I’m usually in the courthouse 6:30am to 7am in the morning and I look through my day and I always prepare a week ahead of time.”
“I think you have to be empathetic. I don’t have the right to judge anybody. So I think you have to be empathetic. These people are before you because they couldn’t fix the problems themselves and they’re coming to you to say I don’t know how to fix this.” says Miller.
Miller is not affiliated with any party and was off the bench for five years before coming to Marinette County as Circuit Court Branch 1 Judge. Miller says, “I am here, without any kind of affiliation and I can take everything and just apply the law as it’s written.” The 2025 Spring election is scheduled for April 1st.
