Liberal backed candidates won the two statewide races last night. Dane County Judge Susan Crawford won a major victory over former Wisconsin attorney general Brad Schimel, 54 to 45 percent. That race was called just over an hour after polls closed with Crawford leading by as much as 17 points. The win means the State Supreme Court will continue to lean liberal, 4 to 3. Meanwhile incumbent state superintendent of schools Dr. Jill Underly won over private school advocate Brittany Kinser 52 to 47 percent. Voters also chose to place Wisconsin’s current voter id law into the state constitution, 63 to 36 percent.

In the race for Judge in Marinette County Circuit Court Branch 1, Judge Peggy Miller narrowly defeated District Attorney DeShea Morrow 6971 to 6833.
The Marinette schools $48,000,000 referendum for facilities improvements at the middle and high schools was defeated 2525 no to 2171 yes.
There will be three new faces on the Marinette school board as the top three vote getters were Tim Pelzek with 2234 vote, Maria Fong-Baake with 2253, and Hank Mathews with 2093 votes. Incumbant Board President Terry Florek received 1763 vote, incumbent Eric Craver received 1438, and Eric Grenier received 1504.
In the City of Marinette, Incumbant Alderperson at Large Dorothy Kowalski won reelection with 1740 votes to 973 for challenger Andi Rich.
In the First Ward, Incumbant Ken Keller defeated challenger Joseph McPhetridge 237-179.
In the race for Peshtigo School Board seat 4, Miranda Seefeldt defeated Kelsey Lossett 1026-771
In the race for City of Peshtigo Alderperson District 3, Debbie Sievert defeated Craig Bucky Lock 187-111
In the Town of Peshtigo race for Supervisor 2, Jimmer Wortner defeated Adam Clay Steeber 1047-573.
All vote totals are unofficial at this time.
Voter turnout was heavy with the City of Marinette temporarily running out of ballots at mid-afternoon.
