Update 05/20 6am:
Some progress has been made as Cellcom works to restore full service to it’s customers. Late yesterday, the company announced SMS texting and Cellcom to Cellcom Voice calls have been restored for the first time since Wednesday evening. Calls to 911, RCS texts, Internet, apps and popular calling apps such as WhatsApp, Microsoft Teams, continue to work. Still to be restored are voice calls to non-Cellcom phones. The company posted: Folks, the work continues. We are making gains every day and we are on the five yard line. Customers are encouraged to keep up on the outage via Facebook and the Cellcom website.
Cellcom is prioritizing the restoration of “core wireless voice services,” followed by others, such as “voice over Wi-Fi where possible,” it stated in the most recent report on Saturday. The outage of voice and SMS texting started Wednesday evening. Internet and emergency 911 services have remained available. Cellcom partially restored voice services on Friday. Some SMS texting appears to have been restored yesterday. In its most recent update the company indicated that it “still cannot promise a timeline” for when customers can expect full service to be restored. Customers can check Cellcom’s website or Facebook page for updates.
