The Michigan Department of Transportation is investing around $4.5 million to resurface and repave roughly 15 miles of roadway. The work will stretch from Jimtown Road up to J.W. Wells State Park and from Dunkas Road north to the Delta County line. Improvements include asphalt milling and resurfacing, sealing, trenching, new pavement markings, and adding centerline and shoulder rumble strips for safety. Governor Gretchen Whitmer says it’s part of the state’s broader push to, quote, “fix the damn roads” aiming to boost the economy and help Michiganders get where they need to go safely. She adds that by the end of this construction season, nearly 24,500 lane miles and 1,900 bridges will have been fixed all without raising taxes. Construction on M-35 is set to begin Monday, June 2nd, and is expected to wrap up in mid-September. Drivers should plan ahead for possible delays.
