Th Menominee Planning Commission recently approved a border change for two of the three parcels compromising the former K-Mart property to allow the setbacks for a cannabis dispensary on one one of those parcels.Keith Killen, owner of the adjacent M&M Plaza, and who previously owned the K-Mart property before it was sold to a Marquette developer. The Marquette Developer, he says he doesn’t believe that would be the best use for the property.
The former K-Mart location is the most shovel-ready site for development in the City of Menominee. Not only is the infrastructure in place and utilities are in accessible. The K-Mart location is demolished, even though the council approved a Brownfield Development. Keith Killen, owner of the property, is quite angry as the City isn’t considering the original plan they had with the developer Veridia. Here’s Keith Killen:
There is a critical issue that I believe will present to you at the next council meeting, in council chambers at Menominee City Hall. At this time, Plan Commission will recommend for approval the boundary change form for the K-Mart property. The next City of Menominee Council meeting will be held on June 16th in Council Chambers.
