One candidate for Governor wants to hold lawmakers responsible for missing budget deadlines. Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan proposed a “No Budget, No Pay” law that would suspend the salaries of state elected officials if they fail to approve the state budget by the legal deadline. Michigan law requires the annual state budget to be delivered by July 1st, but there’s no consequence for inaction. Duggan said, Its about time Lansing had accountability.
