Menominee County is putting its budget surplus to work. Commissioners approved several major purchases: a $140,000 full-body scanner for the jail, $57,000 for new motors for the sheriff’s boat, and $147,000 for a new storage building. The county will use opioid settlement funds and grants for some costs and is also adding $1 million to pension payments. Other approvals include funding for a master plan, a policy subscription, and a local music event. Life insurance for county employees is switching to Colonial Life.
