The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has announced funding to help communities recover from severe winter storms this spring. Through the Urban Forestry Catastrophic Storm Grant program, three cities received grants to repair or replace damaged trees after the heavy ice and snow from March 29th to April 1st. Antigo received $50,000, Rhinelander got $44,000, and Oconto Falls was awarded just over $14,000. These grants, which don’t require matching funds, are part of a statewide effort following Governor Tony Evers’ emergency declaration after the storms. For more information on grants and tree care resources, visit the DNR’s Urban Forestry webpage.
