The Marinette County Fair kicks off today and runs through Sunday at the fairgrounds in Wausaukee, offering a packed schedule of family-friendly events, exhibits and entertainment.
The fair will once again showcase youth, open and senior animal and non-animal exhibits, including dairy and beef cattle, swine, goats, sheep, horses, poultry, rabbits, dogs, plant and soil sciences, photography, food and nutrition, woodworking, cultural arts, and more. Local vendors, artists and non-profit organizations will also be on hand. Entertainment highlights include livestock judging, a horse show, tractor pulls, a demolition derby, a livestock costume contest, and magic tricks by Magic Matt. Carnival rides open at 4 p.m. Thursday, 2 p.m. Friday, and noon on Saturday and Sunday. New this year are Pompeyo’s Dog Show and the AGRIBOT transformer, which combines circus-style fun with agricultural education. On Sunday at 11:30 a.m., exhibitors can take part in the Farm Chore Challenge, featuring wheelbarrow races, hay bale stacking and other agriculture-themed contests.
Fair gates are open noon to 9 p.m. Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5 per person, with children 5 and under free.
