The Menominee Delta Schoolcraft Community Action Agency is preparing to move into the former North Shore Church building on 47th Avenue, after its board approved a $200,000 purchase agreement for the property. The agency has operated out of its current location — the old fire station on 10th Street — since 1979. But Executive Director Gary Willoughby says the space is limited. MDSCAA currently provides Meals on Wheels, senior center programs, Head Start meals, and public transportation in Menominee County. The new building will expand that capacity — with more than 17,000 square feet of space, compared to less than 5,000 at the current site. The purchase is contingent on zoning approval, with a public hearing scheduled for October. After that, officials hope remodeling could begin this fall or winter. Meanwhile, North Shore Church is relocating across the river to the former Menekaunee Elementary School in Wisconsin. The Community Action Agency hopes the new site will allow it to expand services — including restarting a food pantry program, adding support groups, and creating more space for staff and community programs. The closing date depends on final church renovations, but officials say the move is within budget — and a good fit for the agency’s future.
