The Michigan Department of Transportation and the Menominee County Road Commission have announced temporary closures and detours near the US-2 and US-41 intersection in Powers for upcoming railroad bridge work.  A five-day closure of US-2 began Monday with the detour lifted by Friday, October 24^TH at 5 p.m. The closure and detour will return Monday, October 27^TH at 9 a.m. and remain in place through Friday, October 31^ST. Drivers are urged to follow posted detours on local roads and allow extra time for travel. MDOT says closing the highway during this work is necessary to ensure safety for both motorists and construction crews.
