The Marinette County Democratic Party will host State Senator Kelda Roys, a candidate for Governor of Wisconsin, at its monthly meeting this evening. The event is free and open to the public. Roys has spent 25 years in state politics and advocacy work, and says her campaign is focused on building a Wisconsin where “everyone thrives.” Her platform highlights economic empowerment, expanded healthcare access, fully funded public schools, and protections for individual rights and freedoms. Key points of her agenda include allowing residents to buy into state health insurance and pension plans at reasonable costs, ending taxpayer subsidies for private voucher schools, raising wages, and lowering the cost of healthcare, childcare, and housing. Roys says Wisconsin needs a governor who can not only stop harmful policies, but also deliver meaningful change for working families across the state. Tonight’s meeting will be held at the Democratic Party Headquarters at 1746 Stephenson Street in Marinette. Socializing and refreshments begin at 5:30, with Senator Roys speaking at 6 p.m.
