Even though it was almost 10pm, a huge crowd turned out in the Menominee High School turned out to welcome back the Division 7 State Champion Menominee Maroons who in the morning cruised to a 34-6 win over Schoolcraft at Ford Field in Detroit.
At the Welcome Back Celebration at the High School Gym, Coach Chad Brandt noted that when he and his staff took over the program 4 years ago, today’s seniors as freshmen went 0-9 on the JV team, and this year their team went undefeated and became state champions. He said it was hard work in practice and the competition between players that pushed the team to success…
It was the school’s 4th state championship and the first since 2007. The team received a police and fire escort and were even greeted with fireworks as they arrived back home last night.
