The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office is extending a heartfelt thank-you to Norman and Carolyn Hoefert for a generous twenty-thousand-dollar donation. Ten thousand dollars has been designated for the Marinette County K-9 Unit, with another ten thousand dollars supporting the Sheriff’s Office Drone Unit. The donation carries special meaning, just over a year ago, on October 8th, 2024, Norman Hoefert was reported missing after going out for a walk. A massive search effort was launched, involving aerial and drone units, K-9 teams, mounted horse units, firefighters, motorized search crews, and community volunteers. Over several days, hundreds of people conducted coordinated grid searches across a wide area and on October eleventh, Norman was found alive. Last Week, Norman and Carolyn’s son, Dan, shared a recap of those events with deputies. The Sheriff’s Office says it was meaningful for staff to spend time visiting with Norman, now on the other side of a story that ended with hope, teamwork, and gratitude.
