The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office says a suspect is in custody following an investigation into Internet Crimes Against Children. Sheriff Randy Miller reports detectives executed a search warrant February twenty-fifth at a residence in the City of Peshtigo. The warrant was carried out with assistance from the Marinette County Joint Special Response Team. The investigation began in January after authorities received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Following the search, investigators referred twenty-three counts of possession of child pornography to the Marinette County District Attorney’s Office. The suspect’s name is being withheld pending formal charges.
The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office says it is a Wisconsin ICAC Task Force affiliate and works with state and local partners to investigate crimes involving the exploitation of children. Assisting agencies included the Marinette Police Department, Peshtigo Police Department, and the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation Digital Evidence Unit.
