A candidate running for Marinette City Council says residents should have the final say on major spending decisions — including the long-debated proposal to relocate City Hall. Chuck Rowell, who is seeking the Ward Seven seat, says the city should let voters weigh in before committing millions of dollars to the project.
Rowell says if elected, he would push for a referendum so residents — not just council members — make that decision.
Rowell also says keeping taxes manageable means the city needs to look beyond traditional revenue sources.
Rowell adds that strengthening partnerships between local schools, workforce training programs, and major employers could help keep young talent in the community while supporting economic growth. The Ward Seven race will appear on the upcoming Marinette municipal election ballot.
