Recently City of Marinette Firefighters Jason Lemire and Josh Plansky represented the Marinette Fire Department and the Marinette Firefighters Local 226 at the annual Muscular Dystrophy Association Boot Camp in Milwaukee. The MDA Boot Camp is an event held by the MDA for firefighters to meet with families affected by Muscular Dystrophy and other neuromuscular diseases. They share Fill the Boot experiences and for departments and locals who went above and beyond to receive recognition for their accomplishments. Lemire says, “we were recognized for having the second most dollars raised in the state and we were number one in the country with $2,337 per member.”
Last year, the Marinette Fire Department came in second in the state for total dollars raised with just over $28,000. This year, their goal is $30,000. The Marinette Fire Departments Fill the Boot Campaign will run July 12th thru the 14th at the intersection of Hall Avenue and Hattie Street; but if you are interested in donated now, you can. Simply stop by the Marinette Fire Station on Main Street, Marinette or give them a call at 715-732-5170.
