The Marinette County Infrastructure Committee last week unanimously approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the RCCPA to lease the UW Field House month-to-month beginning July 1st when the county’s lease with the University of Wisconsin Board of Regents terminates. Marinette County Administrator John Lefebvre says, “what you have in front of you today is just the opportunity to extend some time to think about this, a little bit of discussion, and why entering into an MOU with River Cities Pool would keep the pool operating for whatever length of time the County and River Cities Pool want to be in this joint agreement together.”
Lefebvre says,” I want them to be at 100 percent control of the facility so they can raise money and lease out the gymnasium, use the classrooms, use it however they want. They can control where people come and go in the building and to see if they can make a go of it and that’s what this is really about.”
The County will contribute $3,000 per month for utilities and be responsible for all required improvements, which exceed $5,000 along with all outside maintenance. However, the MOU must be approved by Corporation Counsel and then the County Board. River Cities Community Pool Association must also agree to the MOU.
