The Menominee School Board unanimously voted on a plan at last evening’s school board meeting to reconfigure grade levels within the Menominee School District; but not before being presented with the results of the Consolidation Feasibility Study. Communication Consultant for Menominee Schools Dorreen Dembski says, “the stakeholders want to make sure there is adequate space for the children that will be served here, for the programs that will be here, that the logistics and timing was handled affectively, and that parking, traffic, pickup, drop-off, and bussing was all highly considered in the move.”
Menominee School Board President Derek Butler says, “most of this, as you know, was shared last year in the second referendum. I don’t think there was many surprises here. My perspective here is I support our administrative team, I support our staff, and the community input.”
By closing Central Elementary, approximately $270,000 will contribute to helping with physical responsibilities. The only exception to the plan is the timeline. Which originally was projected to be completed for the 2023-2024 school year, will now be extended to the 2024-2025 school year. The next step is assigning a project lead.
