A pillar of Marinette, Menominee, and Oconto County communities since 1922, St. Vincent de Paul Society of Marinette Food Pantry is grappling with an unprecedented demand due to a mixture of socio-economic factors. SVDP Executive Director Ashley Berken says, “before the month of June was even over with, we surpassed our last year’s food distribution of 275,000 pounds of food.”
Berken says, “you can help us financially by shopping our Thrift Store. All of our proceeds from our Thrift Store, go right back into our programs, which our Food Pantry is by far our largest program.”
Every Wednesday, from 10am to 4pm, up to 600 people line up for assistance. Many arriving as early as 8am, some on bicycles and wheelchairs. To help St. Vincent de Paul Society of Marinette Food Pantry continue its critical mission, the organization is calling for financial donations. Contributions can be made online at svdpmarinette.org or by mailing a check or money order to P.O. Box 1111, Marinette. Businesses are also encouraged to become food pantry sponsors.
