The Marinette County District Attorney announces that on Thursday, August 23^rd, a Marinette man was sentenced to 17 years in prison and 8 years of extended supervision for possessing one point seven pounds of cocaine in over 30 packages for delivery in his apartment in the City of Marinette. Jesus Rodriguez-Hamilton was convicted after pleading to Possession with Intent to Deliver Cocaine, greater than 40 grams; Within 1000 Feet of a Public Pool, for possessing nearly two pounds of cocaine. Also, found in his apartment, was over $16,000 in U.S. currency, scales, empty baggies, and a vacuum sealer. At sentencing, District Attorney DeShea Morrow stated that Hamilton was a large-scale, for-profit, cocaine dealer. Morrow told the court that Hamilton’s actions in dealing large amounts of cocaine in Marinette and Menominee Counties posed a serious risk to individuals and the community as a whole. She emphasizes, that Hamilton was a dealer, not a user, of cocaine, and that those who deal large quantities of drugs in our area should know that they face significant penalties. Hamilton was sentenced to 17 years of initial confinement and 8 years of extended supervision. In imposing the sentences, the Judge noted that Mr. Hamilton possessed an exceptional amount of cocaine over 1,000 ½ gram doses. The Judge stated that Mr. Hamilton’s actions were a risk to the community as a whole.
