A man is in custody after a ‘domestic situation ‘between a mother and son in Peshtigo on Tuesday. According to the Peshtigo Police Department, officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of Maple Street at about 1:40pm for an unknown disturbance. Upon arrival, officers determined it was a domestic situation involving a mother and her adult son. Authorities say the man, 24, was breaking items inside the home and allegedly threatening his mother and himself with a kitchen knife. After escaping the home, the woman was able to call the police. The suspect refused Officers’ commands or prompting to come outside. A perimeter was set up and phone contact with the suspect was made by one of our officers. EMS was also dispatched and placed on standby. Upon further investigation and concern for safety of the subject, Officers made forcible entry into the residence. Contact was then made with the suspect who was taken into custody and later transported to the Marinette County Jail. No one was injured during the incident. Police say there is no danger to the public. The suspect is “facing several charges” and his case has been forwarded to the Marinette County District Attorney’s Office for further review. Officials say the mother has been offered resources relating to the incident.
