On, April 28th, 2023, Hannahville Police Department Officer David Mlostek arrested 32-year-old Nickolas Kyle Dupont on two warrants, one from Menominee County and one from Delta County, and detained him in the HPD interview room and told him he was not free to leave at approximately 1245hours. When officer Mlostek left the room briefly to obtain a camera, Dupont fled the HPD, breaking a glass door, and fled in a 2002 Pontiac owned by Devin Wodrazka. Officer Mlostek observed Dupont get in the driver’s side of the car and back up at a high rate of speed. Officer Mlostek drew his sidearm and ordered Dupont to stop; Dupont looked right at Officer Mlostek and “floored it,” speed out of the parking lot at approximately 60mph, traveling south on Bingo Lane and onto Wandahsega lane in Harris Township. HPD Officers eventually located Dupont at 1907 Road in Bark River and arrested him without further incident. On Friday, September 27th, Dupont’s Attorney Jane Hansen says, “we are recommending a sentence that is closer to the lower end of the guidelines. He’s currently awaiting sentencing in Delta County.”
Menominee Prosecuting Attorney Jeffrey Rogg says, “if people made logical and rational decisions all the time, we would not need court.”
Dupont was sentenced for a count of Malicious Destruction of Fire or Police Property, a felony of up to four-years in prison and/or up to $5,000 and Driving Reckless, a misdemeanor of 93 days in jail or a $500 fine. For his actions in Menominee County, Dupont receives a sentence of 16 to 48 months in prison. He will receive his sentence in the coming weeks for his actions in Delta County.
