The City of Marinette is experiencing an increase in housing availability due to the city’s support and incentives that have drawn developers of apartments, condos, and single-family homes. This demand is driven by employment growth at local businesses, including Fincantieri Marinette Marine, Johnson Controls, Waupaca, Chem Design, Aurora and Bellin Hospitals, as well as other area employers. Right now, a developer is interested in the Fleet Farm Property for housing and has submitted an offer to purchase. Mayor Steve Genisot…
Genisot says, “they are going to build the roads, do all the water mains, they’re going to do the storm water, and we will put the lift station in for them. Which will hopefully service additional homes in the future.”
The developer made an offer to purchase the former Fleet Farm property for $325,000. The council voted 7 yes to 2 no to move forward with a development agreement.
