The Milwaukee Public Museum is not only getting a new home, but a new name as well. The museum announced Tuesday that it will be known as the Nature & Culture Museum of Wisconsin when it opens its new location in early 2027. The new museum building that’s under construction is a short walk from its current downtown location. A news release explains that the museum’s new name spotlights the shared statewide natural and cultural history and identity of the venue. The museum’s collection holds more than 4 million items from all 72 Wisconsin counties. The cost of the move is estimated at $240 million.
