National Police Week 2025 is currently being observed through May 17. This annual event stems from a 1962 proclamation by President John F. Kennedy, designating May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the surrounding week as National Police Week. The week serves as a time to honor the memory of law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty, sacrificing their own safety for the protection of others. It is also an opportunity to recognize the dedication and bravery of the men and women who continue to serve and protect our communities every day. Marinette County Sheriff Randy Miller encourages residents to take a moment this week to thank the officers they encounter and to reflect on the ultimate sacrifices made by those no longer with us. “Here in Marinette County, we are fortunate to have some of the finest law enforcement professionals,” said Sheriff Miller. “It is an honor to serve alongside them, and I am proud of the important work they do every day.”
