A Marinette woman has been sentenced to six months in jail for driving while intoxicated (DWI). 23 year old Bethany L. Wolf, entered a no contest plea to a misdemeanor on Friday in Marinette County Circuit Court, with Judge Peggy Miller presiding. Wolf was charged on January 12th after her pickup truck stuck a man who was entering his vehicle on Main Street in Marinette. Initially charged with hit-and-run causing great bodily harm, a Class E felony carrying a maximum penalty of $50,000 and 15 years in prison, the charge was dismissed but considered during sentencing. A second misdemeanor charge for causing injury while driving with an alcohol concentration greater than 0.15 percent was also dismissed. Wolf’s sentence includes Huber work release privileges, and she receives credit for one day already served. Her driver’s license is revoked for 18 months, and she is required to have an ignition interlock device for the same period. She must undergo an alcohol assessment and pay fines, costs, and fees totaling $2,121 within six months.
According to the criminal complaint, Keith Larry Plude, aged 67, was entering his van shortly after 5pm on January 12th when Wolf struck him with her Ford F150 pickup truck, pinning him between the two vehicles. Wolf attempted to flee, but her vehicle became immobilized in a neighbor’s yard due to damage. A preliminary breath test indicated Wolf’s blood-alcohol concentration was .239, nearly three times the legal limit of .08 BAC in Wisconsin, as stated by City of Marinette Police Officer Channing Willie in the complaint. While Wolf apologized in court, Plude expressed doubt regarding the sincerity of her apology.
