40-year-old, Joseph Poore, pleaded no contest on June 13th to one count of first-degree reckless homicide with a dangerous weapon, a reduction from his initial charges of first-degree intentional homicide and armed robbery as a party to a crime. As part of his plea agreement, the armed robbery charge was dropped. The incident took place on June 3rd, 2024, when police responded to the 700 block of South Roosevelt Street and found 33-year-old Robert Marshall of Green Bay lying on the ground with multiple stab wounds. A medical examiner later determined that one of the five stab wounds pierced Marshall’s lung and heart, likely resulting in his death. Witnesses described an altercation inside a car involving Marshall and another man, after which Marshall stumbled out of the vehicle while the car drove away. The vehicle was later stopped in Peshtigo, leading to the detention of Poore, 33-year-old Aaron Walton of Menominee, and an unidentified woman. Aaron Walton, who faces identical charges of first-degree intentional homicide and armed robbery, is scheduled for a plea hearing on July 17th. According to the woman’s testimony, Poore had proposed robbing Marshall earlier that day, though both she and Walton claimed they were unaware Marshall had been injured when he exited the car. Poore’s sentencing is set for August 15th, with both prosecution and defense recommending 24 years of imprisonment followed by 20 years of extended supervision. However, the judge is not bound to follow this recommendation, leaving the possibility of a different sentence.
