The American Red Cross of Wisconsin is looking for volunteers to step up and serve on its Disaster Action Team. Here is Laura McGuire Regional Communications Manager to tell you more…
Volunteers are trained to help families in crisis by offering shelter, comfort, and recovery support. After initial training, members commit to shifts that require them to respond within two hours of an emergency — day or night, in all kinds of weather.
The Red Cross responds to over 65,000 disasters each year across the country. Recently, during historic flooding in Milwaukee, volunteers distributed cleanup kits and helped set up temporary shelters for victims. No prior experience is required to join, and free, flexible training is available. The Red Cross also offers several other volunteer opportunities for those who want to support disaster relief operations nationwide. If you’re ready to make a difference in your community, learn more and start your application at redcross.org/local/wisconsin/volunteer.
