The USS Marinette, also known as LCS 25, is a Freedom-class Littoral Combat Ship built right here at Fincantieri Marinette Marine. It’s the thirteenth ship in the Freedom-class program, and the very first U.S. Navy combat ship to carry the Marinette name. For a community with deep roots in shipbuilding, that name carries more than pride; it represents the skilled workforce, the families behind them, and Marinette’s long-standing contributions to the Navy. When the commissioning team first met the crew, they knew this ship wasn’t just going to be built and then sent away. Committee President Jon Kukuk says it became personal.
That connection inspired the creation of the USS Marinette Legacy Foundation, designed to keep strong ties between the tri-community, the ship, and its sailors.
The Legacy Foundation board will continue raising funds and support throughout the service life of the ship and for the lifetime of the sailors who serve aboard her. To learn more or donate to the USS Marinette Legacy Foundation, visit www.ussmarinetteshipassociation.org
