Thirty-five-year-old Brian Blasing pleaded guilty to first-degree reckless homicide by delivery of drugs in connection to the September 12th, 2018, death of Jeffrey Pecha. According to court records, Pecha was found unresponsive on a sidewalk after meeting Blasing to buy heroin and meth. Investigators say phone records show the two arranged the deal—and that Pecha died within about thirty minutes of getting the drugs. Blasing’s sentencing is scheduled for October 29th, and prosecutors say several other counts were dismissed as part of the plea deal. This marks the second time Blasing has been convicted of providing drugs that led to someone’s death. In 2021, he was sentenced to 19 years in prison for the overdose death of Terry Westphal in Pound. Blasing remains in custody at the Dodge Correctional Institution, according to state prison records.
