The Michigan Court of Appeals has issued a ruling in a lawsuit between the State Senate and the State House. The court sided with the Senate, ordering the House to send nine bills to Governor Whitmer’s desk. The dispute began after the bills — which had already passed both chambers — were not presented to the governor for her signature after the House changed power in January from Democrats to Republicans. The Senate sued to force the action. The bills in question relate to healthcare costs and retirement benefits for some public employees. The court has ordered the bills to be presented to the governor immediately.
