67-year-old Guy James Homernik will serve 60 days in the Menominee County Jail following his sentencing Thursday by Judge Robert J. Jamo in 95-A District Court. Deputies say the case began September 14th, when they were called to a Stephenson gas station for a sexual assault complaint. Surveillance footage from the store confirmed the incident. Assistant Prosecutor Sage Casselman issued a warrant for criminal sexual conduct. When deputies went to make the arrest, Homernik fought with them, leading to the additional charge of resisting an officer. Prosecutor Jeffery Rogg praised the courage of the young woman who came forward, saying her strength during the investigation and prosecution was “tremendous.” Homernik will also be required to register as a sex offender.
