Escanaba Public Safety is responding to growing community concerns after several structure fires were reported across the city in recent weeks, including this week’s fire at the House of Ludington. Officials say their fire investigator has completed origin-and-cause examinations on the incidents and emphasize that multiple fires in a short span can understandably raise alarm. The department says it’s working directly with property owners on fire-prevention improvements and building upgrades to help reduce future risks. They also stress there is no credible information suggesting an arsonist is operating in the community. If that were ever the case, they say the public and media would be notified immediately. Public Safety Director Smith and Captain Young encourage anyone with questions about fire safety or prevention efforts to contact the department. Officials thanked residents for their support and say keeping Escanaba safe remains their top priority.
