Democratic candidate for Governor Missy Hughes made a campaign stop in Marinette this week, drawing a strong turnout and highlighting her vision for a “Main Street economy.” Hughes says that means strong local jobs, affordable childcare, accessible healthcare, and quality public schools — all close to home.
Hughes points to her experience as former Secretary of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, saying she worked directly with businesses to raise wages and improve benefits. She says if companies receive state incentives, they should be required to provide competitive pay and benefits.
Hughes also emphasized bipartisan leadership, noting she was unanimously confirmed twice by Republican lawmakers and believes compromise is key to moving Wisconsin forward.
